JJ update

Unfortunately all is not super great here, as JJ is still in much pain
any time he moves... Apparently the body causes muscle spasms in
attempts to put the bones back in place, but this just causes lots of
pain and makes it hard to sleep. Bad body! So, while he's awake and
doped up, he is fine to lay there... But while drifting off to sleep,
the spasms ramp up... ugh!!! Nothing is worse than having your child be
in pain and being totally helpless.

Ruby's been w/friends and is now at Auntie and Uncle Jay's. Last night
she was crying to me on the phone... She wanted to know when she can
come home and also feels like this is all her fault b/c she had been
egging him on right before the accident happened, a la 'You can't catch
me - ha, ha, ha...' Jeremy had been chasing her... Poor girl! :(

I look forward to a week from now when all this gets sorted and we are
in a new rhythm...

We are very thankful that Nonna arrives tonight. And equally glad that
Nanny will come out to take her place on Thursday. The extra help will
be great as I'm not sure that toddlers w/broken limbs can go to
daycare!!

Last night was a bit better than the night before. As in, JJ actually
got some sleep. It was interrupted, but at least he had a few hour plus
long stretches of sleep. Cried from 6-7pm, tried to drift of to sleep
and kept waking from 7-8, then finally fell asleep from 8-11pm with
minimal interruption... Same for the rest of the night. Crying followed
by spasms by sleep.

Hopefully tonight will be better. They told us that the first 48 hours
are the worst, so were 1/2 way there!

This will be interesting keeping a toddler off his feet and occupied.
Any suggestions? TV will only work for so long. Mini wheel chairs or
walkers??? At some point he will be able to put some weight on it...?

Facepaint fun

While Ruby's been 'kicked out of the house' she's managed to have some fun.

JJ's broken leg :(

Coming down a slide today, JJ broke his tibia. Cast is anticipated to go on Monday. Here's the photo from the emergency room.

The really big slide!

This is the play structure at Ruby's elementary school. Just dropped her off and now its mommy JJ play time!

JJ sliding, again and again!!

Jeremy stories

Jeremy's 1st story

The other morning I went in to get Jeremy as he was calling me, 'awake Mommy, I awake!' when I opened the door he was already talking and turned to me urgently to tell me, what I believe was his first story... Or maybe relaying a dream he remembered. Very simply this is what he said with much expression, in this order, at least two times:
Bad guys! Bad guys!
Guns, big owie!
Firetruck help them.
Park! Go park!

He's talking so much these days. Both parroting what he's hearing others say and also sharing his own thoughts. More and more he's using 4+ word sentences.

He told my mom and I earnestly, 'no touch fire, because big owie!' the other night when we had a camp fire going.

Screwdriver!! According to JJ anything and everything can be fixed with a screwdriver (pronounced sue-diver). Got a whole in your shirt? Screwdriver!! Broken balloon? Screwdriver!! Scraped your knee? Screwdriver!! Very handy tool that screwdriver!
